Light the one star you're missing.

Auriel finds exactly what you are missing, then teaches it.

An AI tutor from Atox Academy for students who understand most of a topic, but not quite all of it.

Scanning what you already know

Four steps, one map.

Every session follows the same method, the way a good tutor would. Scroll, and watch it move through the map.

01Check the foundations
01

Check the foundations

Before teaching anything new, Auriel checks the ideas the topic stands on. To learn the product rule, you need the power rule and the derivative of sin x. If one of those is shaky, that is where it starts.

02

Find what you already know

A short run of questions moves through your map. Each answer tells Auriel which stars are bright and which are faint, so nothing is assumed.

03

Teach only the gap

No re-teaching what you have mastered. Auriel builds the explanation out of ideas you already hold, drawing a path from them to the one you are missing.

04

Confirm it holds

You answer a fresh question on your own. When it is right, the new star settles and the lines turn solid. Understanding you can rely on in an exam.

One question, diagnosed.

A standard A-level differentiation question, and how a session with Auriel might go. This is an illustrative example, not a transcript.

Differentiate y = x² sin x. I got 2x cos x, but the answer says otherwise.
Before we look at that, a quick check. What is the derivative of x³, and of sin x?
3x² and cos x.
Both right, so the foundations are there. The slip is that you differentiated each part and multiplied the results. That works for sums, but x² sin x is a product. The piece you are missing is the product rule.
If y = uv, then
dy/dx = u′v + uv′
Here u = x² and v = sin x, so u′ = 2x and v′ = cos x. Both of those you just gave me.
dy/dx = 2x sin x + x² cos x
Now a new one, on your own: differentiate y = x³ cos x.
3x² cos x − x³ sin x
Exactly right. The product rule is on your map now.

Where we are starting.

Auriel launches with A-level Maths on the AQA specification, beginning with Calculus and Trigonometry. We would rather teach two regions properly than the whole galaxy loosely.

Built by Atox Academy.

Atox Academy is a premium tutoring business whose tutors trained at Oxford and Cambridge. Auriel is shaped by how they teach: check the foundations, find what a student already understands, teach only the gap, then confirm it holds.

It is the same patience, available on a Tuesday night before a mock.

Auriel is being built for students aged 16 to 18, with their parents in mind. It is designed to stay focused on maths, and before launch we will publish exactly how student data is handled.
